Emergency Rental Assistance Program Success Story

February, 2022

The following is a story by Hope Mead, an ERAP attorney at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. It certainly helps to put a real story to some of what we do and bring a smile to our faces!! I was working with a victim of domestic violence. Thanks to the ERAP funds she was able to get out of a very violent situation (having even been hospitalized during the situation). She is able to keep her and her kids housed safely and stably. Given the ERAP legal guidelines we were also able to help her with a protection order and obtain over $500 per month in child support!!! I got an awesome text from her expressing her gratitude and that she would still be in the violent situation and the children would still be seeing it had it not been for the program. I share this to not only say thank you but remind you we are making a real difference! We were also able to get two homeless individuals housing with moving fees through the letters of intent!!! One man was a veteran that has been homeless for three (3) years!!
