The Interstate Compact on Juveniles (ICJ) provides the mechanism to effect and regulate the movement of a juvenile across state lines while serving the ends of justice, the welfare of the youth and the protection of the community. The Compact has been adopted by every state to provide uniform procedures to permit the return of juveniles who run away and a system under which juvenile offenders can be supervised in other states. Wyoming enacted legislation in 1957, W.S. 14-6-101, Articles I to XVI, and became a member state shorty thereafter.
