
Governor Mark Gordon has approved the Wyoming Department of Family Services’ SUN Bucks Program Preliminary Implementation Plan. The plan was created in response to the governor’s Executive Order 2026-02 on April 15, 2026. The USDA has approved Wyoming’s plan for 2026 SUN Bucks benefits.
SUN Bucks Cards to Begin Mailing in Early July
At this time, SUN Bucks electronic benefit transfer cards will begin mailing to eligible children starting in early July. SUN Bucks cards will be sent weekly throughout the summer to eligible children as applications are processed. Children are eligible for the full $120 SUN Bucks food benefit even if they apply on the last day of the eligibility period: August 31. Children automatically enrolled will have the opportunity to opt-out if they prefer. We will share more information, including an eligibility checker and application portal, as soon as they are available.
What is SUN Bucks?
- SUN Bucks is a summer-only food benefit program.
- Children eligible for free and reduced-price meals may also be eligible for SUN Bucks.
- Each child is eligible for $120 in food benefits for the summer months.
- Benefits are subject to the same purchasing restrictions as SNAP.
- Benefits are issued on an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card.
