The Department’s values – safe at home, opportunities for success, and supporting the people who support the families – provide the foundation for WY Home Matters, a framework that guides how the Department works across divisions, systems, and with communities to engage and serve children, youth, vulnerable adults, and their families. This framework is built on a belief that children and vulnerable adults do best when they can stay safely at home.
WY Home Matters and the Department’s values provide the foundation for the current Department-wide strategic plan which covers State Fiscal Years (SFY) 2026 through 2028. The time period is July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2028. Each year on July 1, the Department releases a one-year plan update with strategies for the next 12-month period. The strategic plan is a roadmap that organizes work currently underway or planned that helps to operationalize WY Home Matters and the Department’s values. The strategic plan establishes three strategic goals and three operational goals. These goals and associated strategies are not intended to address every aspect of Department operations; instead, the strategic plan seeks to better organize and elevate key goals and strategies that will help the Department to achieve success together, through innovative and effective cross-agency and cross-system partnerships.
Communities play a vital role in keeping children, youth, vulnerable adults, and their families safe at home. Because of this, the Department facilitates a monthly Community Family Support Forum focused on sharing resources, ideas, and successes that help keep families safe and on a path that is self-sustaining.
